The Methodology Behind the Scores
The scoring logic draws on three sources. First, The Starr Conspiracy's enterprise messaging maturity model, built from 25 years of B2B tech engagements and refined against 200+ client messaging audits between 2019 and 2024. Second, published benchmark data from Forrester and SiriusDecisions messaging research, cited inline with year. Third, internal performance data correlating messaging hierarchy clarity to pipeline conversion velocity across our active client portfolio.
Each tool exposes its formula. The ROI Calculator, for example, uses a four-variable model (current pipeline value, message-influenced conversion rate, projected lift, remediation cost) with benchmark defaults sourced from our 2024 client dataset. Tool 1. Messaging Readiness Assessment
A maturity assessment scored across five dimensions. Each dimension carries equal weight. Total score ranges 0-100.
Dimensions: Strategy and Vision, Architecture and Hierarchy, Cross-Functional Alignment, Activation and Enablement, Measurement and Governance.
Interpretation bands. 0-39 Foundational, you have positioning fragments but no operating system. 40-59 Emerging, the framework exists but breaks at the seams between teams. 60-79 Operational, the system works under normal pressure but cracks under launch or competitive stress. 80-100 Enterprise-Ready, messaging holds across brand, product, campaigns, and sales with measurable pipeline impact.

Tool 2. Messaging Alignment Diagnostic
A cross-functional diagnostic that scores message consistency between four surfaces, brand site, product pages, active campaigns, sales decks. The tool flags contradictions, hierarchy drift, and value-prop inflation.
Output categories. Aligned, Drifting, Fragmented, Contradictory. Each result maps to a specific remediation path with estimated time-to-fix.

Tool 3. Messaging ROI Calculator
A business-case calculator that estimates the pipeline impact of a messaging overhaul. Inputs include current annual pipeline value, current message-influenced conversion rate, target conversion lift, and remediation investment. Defaults are benchmark-sourced and overridable.
Formula notation. Projected annual pipeline lift equals (Current Pipeline × Current Conversion Rate × Target Lift Percentage) minus Remediation Investment, expressed as both absolute dollars and a payback period in months.

Tool 4. SaaS Messaging Grader
Paste a headline, hero subhead, or value proposition. The grader scores it on eight criteria, Specificity, Differentiation, Audience Clarity, Outcome Orientation, Proof Density, Cognitive Load, Brand Voice Fit, Competitive Distinctiveness.
Each criterion scores 0-10. Total grade is A through F. Output includes a per-criterion teardown and a recommended rewrite pattern.
