B2B Technical and On-Page SEO Assessment Suite
The Starr Conspiracy's B2B Technical and On-Page SEO Assessment Suite scores your site across four dimensions and shows you exactly which fix drives the fastest pipeline lift within your budget.
What This Suite Is and Who It Serves
The B2B Technical and On-Page SEO Assessment Suite by The Starr Conspiracy scores your site across four dimensions of organic-pipeline health and tells you which fix moves revenue fastest under your current budget. It is built for B2B tech marketing leaders and in-house SEO practitioners running long sales cycles with constrained engineering capacity. Median B2B sites we benchmark score 47 out of 100 on technical readiness, and the top fix typically returns measurable pipeline lift within two quarters.
This page documents the methodology behind all four tools. Use it as the reference; use the interactive versions when you want a personalized score.
The Four Tools
- B2B Technical SEO Readiness Assessment (Maturity, 12 dimensions, 0 to 100 score)
- On-Page SEO Scorecard (Grader, 10 scoring criteria, A through F grade)
- Core Web Vitals Benchmark Tool (Comparator, 3 metrics versus B2B peer ranges)
- SEO Fix Prioritization ROI Calculator (Value calculator, 6 inputs, projected pipeline impact)
Each tool exposes its scoring logic in plain text below. Nothing critical is gated. The personalized output, the side-by-side peer comparison, and the downloadable executive summary sit behind a form. The math does not.
Methodology Framing
We built this suite because the existing market is broken in a specific way. Semrush gives you a 200-item checklist with no prioritization. Google PageSpeed Insights gives you raw metrics with no peer context. SEOptimer produces an undifferentiated issue list with no revenue weighting. None of them answers the only question a B2B marketer with a fixed engineering budget actually has: what do I fix first, and what will it return?
Our scoring draws on four public sources. Core Web Vitals thresholds come from Google's official documentation (developers.google.com, 2024 update). On-page criteria are aligned with Yoast's technical SEO framework (yoast.com, 2024) and cross-referenced against Semrush B2B industry benchmarks (semrush.com, 2024 B2B Search Report). E-E-A-T scoring follows the four-pillar interpretation of Google's Search Quality Rater Guidelines. ROI projections use a conversion-velocity model adapted from B2B pipeline research published by Michigan Technological University's marketing program (mtu.edu).
Sample scope for our internal benchmarks: 312 B2B technology sites with 50 to 2,500 employees, audited between January 2023 and September 2024. Limitations: the comparator benchmarks skew toward North American B2B SaaS and HR tech; results for global enterprise or hard-tech manufacturing sites may vary.
Tool 1: B2B Technical SEO Readiness Assessment
This is a maturity assessment scored across 12 dimensions in three categories. Each dimension is scored 0 to 10. Total score maps to one of four maturity tiers.
Score interpretation:
- 0 to 35: Foundational. Your site has structural failures that are actively suppressing rankings. Fix infrastructure before investing in content.
- 36 to 60: Developing. Core technical hygiene is in place, but inconsistency is leaking authority. Median B2B score sits here.
- 61 to 84: Advanced. You are competitive in your category. Focus on differentiation, schema depth, and topical authority.
- 85 to 100: Leading. You are setting the benchmark. Maintain through quarterly audits.
The assessment uses the technical SEO framework defined in our glossary and pairs with our B2B SEO strategy guide for remediation sequencing.
Tool 2: On-Page SEO Scorecard
This is a grader. Ten scoring criteria, weighted by order of impact on B2B organic conversion. The first criterion carries the highest weight, descending from there. Final output is a letter grade A through F with a per-criterion breakdown.
Criteria are aligned with Yoast's 2024 on-page framework and validated against the top 20 ranking B2B SaaS sites in our benchmark cohort. The scorecard does not check for keyword density, a metric Backlinko's 2024 ranking factor analysis confirmed has no correlation with rankings above the 5th percentile of pages.
Tool 3: Core Web Vitals Benchmark Tool
This is a comparator. Three metrics pulled from Google's official Core Web Vitals specification, each benchmarked against the B2B peer range derived from our 312-site cohort.
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): Google passing threshold is 2.5 seconds. B2B peer median is 3.1 seconds. Top quartile B2B sites hit 2.0 seconds.
- Interaction to Next Paint (INP): Google passing threshold is 200ms. B2B peer median is 240ms. Top quartile hits 150ms.
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Google passing threshold is 0.1. B2B peer median is 0.14. Top quartile hits 0.05.
The tool shows your score, your peer percentile, and the engineering effort estimate to move from your current band to the next.
Tool 4: SEO Fix Prioritization ROI Calculator
This is where the suite earns its keep. Six inputs produce a projected pipeline impact for each candidate fix, ranked by return per engineering hour.
Inputs: current monthly organic sessions, current organic-to-MQL conversion rate, average deal size, sales cycle length in days, win rate, and available engineering hours for the next quarter. The calculator outputs a ranked list of fixes from your readiness and scorecard results, with projected sessions lift, MQL lift, and pipeline-dollar impact for each.
The model assumes a 90-day lag between technical fix deployment and full ranking realization, consistent with the indexation and recrawl cadence Google documents for sites under 100,000 URLs.
How to Use the Suite
Run them in order. Readiness first to surface structural failures. Scorecard second to grade your content layer. Core Web Vitals third for performance triage. ROI calculator last, because it needs the inputs from the first three to rank your fix list.
Most teams finish all four in under 30 minutes. The output is a single prioritized roadmap with revenue projections, which is what you actually take to your CFO when you ask for the engineering budget.
The Bottom Line
B2B SEO does not get fixed by working a 200-item checklist top to bottom. It gets fixed by knowing which three things are killing your pipeline this quarter and fixing those first. This suite tells you which three. Run it, take the output to your engineering lead, and stop guessing.
Related Questions
How often should I run a technical SEO audit?
Quarterly for sites under 10,000 URLs. Monthly for sites publishing more than 20 new pages per week or running active migration projects. The readiness assessment is built for quarterly cadence; the Core Web Vitals tool is built for continuous monitoring because performance drift happens between releases.
Why does the ROI calculator weight some fixes higher than others?
Because not all SEO failures cost the same in pipeline. A broken canonical strategy on your highest-converting template can suppress 40% of organic MQLs. A missing meta description on a low-traffic page costs you almost nothing. The calculator weights by the intersection of traffic potential, conversion behavior, and engineering cost, not by checklist convention.
What if my site has fewer than 100 monthly organic sessions?
The ROI calculator's projections become unreliable below that threshold because the sample is too small to model conversion behavior. Run the readiness assessment and scorecard anyway. At low traffic volumes, technical fixes still matter, but the diagnosis is qualitative rather than projected in pipeline dollars.
