B2B AI Marketing Use Cases Assessment Suite
The B2B AI Marketing Use Cases Assessment Suite by The Starr Conspiracy gives you four scored diagnostics to prioritize AI investments, benchmark your stack, and build a board-ready business case fast.
What This Tool Does and Who It Serves
The B2B AI Marketing Use Cases Assessment Suite by The Starr Conspiracy gives B2B marketing leaders four scored diagnostics to prioritize AI investments, calculate pipeline ROI, benchmark stack maturity, and prove readiness under headcount and budget constraints. Most mid-market B2B marketing teams score below 45% on AI operational readiness in the first run, per The Starr Conspiracy 2024 client diagnostic cohort (n=62), which sets a clear floor for board-level business cases.
You will use this suite when you have a real decision to make. Not when you are scrolling LinkedIn for AI takes.
How the Suite Scores and Why You Can Trust the Output
Each of the four tools draws on a named methodology and a dated benchmark dataset. The Diagnostic Quiz maps your answers to one of ten demand states using the Starr Conspiracy demand state model. The ROI Calculator runs your pipeline inputs through a formula notation we expose in plain text below, defaulting to benchmarks pulled from our 2024 B2B AI marketing operations study. The Benchmarking Comparator scores your stack against a peer cohort segmented by revenue band and ICP complexity. The Readiness Assessment evaluates three maturity dimensions, Strategy and Vision, Data and Infrastructure, Talent and Organization, drawn from a maturity model we have refined across 25 years of B2B tech client work.
Methodology is public. Scoring rubrics, formulas, and benchmark thresholds sit on this page in static HTML. The personalized output, your score, your projected ROI, your peer comparison, is the only thing gated behind email capture. That distinction matters. You should never trust an assessment that hides its math.
Sample size and vintage for each benchmark dataset:
Readiness Assessment cohort, 62 B2B tech marketing teams, scored January through October 2024, revenue range $20M to $400M ARR. Benchmarking Comparator dataset, 138 stack audits conducted between Q2 2023 and Q3 2024. ROI Calculator default assumptions sourced from BCG's 2024 AI in marketing productivity research and Salesforce's 2024 State of Marketing data on AI-attributed pipeline lift, with our own pipeline velocity coefficients layered on top.
Limitations you should know about. The Benchmarking Comparator skews toward HR tech, fintech, and B2B SaaS verticals. If you sell into industrial or healthcare verticals, treat the peer median as directional, not absolute. The ROI Calculator assumes you have at minimum a functional CRM with closed-loop reporting; if your attribution is broken, the calculator output overstates lift.
The Four Tools in This Suite
The first tool is the AI Use Case Prioritization Diagnostic. It is a 10-question diagnostic that maps your current AI experiments and planned investments against a 2x2 of pipeline impact and implementation feasibility, producing a ranked list of the three use cases you should fund this quarter and the three you should kill.
The second is the B2B AI Marketing ROI Calculator. You input five pipeline variables, MQL volume, MQL to SQL conversion rate, average deal size, sales cycle length, and current marketing-sourced pipeline contribution. The calculator outputs projected pipeline lift, payback period in months, and a sensitivity range showing best case, expected case, and worst case scenarios. The formula is published in the static methodology section below so you can audit it.
The third is the AI Marketing Stack Benchmarking Comparator. You enter your current marketing tech stack and AI tool spend. The comparator scores stack composition against a peer cohort and flags overlap, gaps, and underutilized investments. Benchmark ranges refresh every six months.
The fourth is the AI Marketing Readiness Assessment. Twelve questions across three maturity dimensions produce a readiness score from 0 to 100 with named tier interpretation. This is the right tool to run before a board presentation or an agency selection process.
ROI Calculator Formula Notation
Projected annual pipeline lift equals current marketing-sourced pipeline multiplied by AI-attributed lift coefficient multiplied by adoption ramp factor.
AI-attributed lift coefficient defaults to 0.18 for content operations use cases and 0.23 for pipeline acceleration use cases, sourced from Salesforce 2024 State of Marketing benchmarks for AI-augmented teams. Adoption ramp factor defaults to 0.6 in year one, 0.85 in year two, 1.0 in year three, reflecting realistic operational maturity curves.
Payback period in months equals total program investment divided by monthly projected pipeline lift multiplied by gross margin percentage divided by 12.
You can override every default. The point of exposing the formula is so you can.
How to Interpret Your Scores
Readiness Assessment, 0 to 39 points means you are in the experimentation phase and should not yet commit to enterprise AI platform spend. Run pilots, build the data layer, fix attribution. 40 to 69 points means you are operationally ready for scaled deployment in one or two use cases. Pick the highest pipeline impact use case and fund it fully rather than spreading thin. 70 to 100 points means you have the data, talent, and operational maturity to run a multi-use-case AI program. The constraint at this tier is usually governance, not capability.
Diagnostic Quiz, your top three use cases are the ones to fund this quarter. The bottom three are not bad ideas. They are bad bets for your current state. Revisit them after you have moved up one readiness tier.
ROI Calculator, if your payback period exceeds 18 months under the expected case scenario, the business case is fragile. Either negotiate vendor pricing down, narrow the use case scope, or pick a different use case with faster pipeline contact.
Benchmarking Comparator, stack overlap above 30% means you are paying for redundant capabilities. Stack gaps in the data and orchestration layer are higher priority to close than gaps in the content generation layer, because generation tools without orchestration produce volume without lift.
What This Suite Will Not Do For You
It will not tell you that AI is going to save your marketing team. That is your job to figure out. It will not produce a vendor shortlist. We do not rank platforms because platform fit depends on factors no calculator captures, like your existing data architecture and your team's operational rhythm. It will not replace strategic judgment. The scored output is a decision input, not a decision.
If you want help interpreting your scores against your specific go-to-market context, that is what we do. The suite is free. The strategic depth is the partnership.

The Bottom Line
Most AI assessment tools published by platform companies are lead-capture forms with a PDF report stapled to the back. This suite is the opposite. The methodology is public, the formulas are auditable, the benchmarks are dated and sourced, and the only thing we ask for in exchange for your personalized result is an email address. Run the tools in this order, Readiness first, then Diagnostic, then ROI, then Benchmarking. That sequence will save you from funding a use case your operations cannot support.
