AI-Enabled B2B Marketing Assessment Suite

The Starr Conspiracy's AI-Enabled B2B Marketing Assessment Suite gives marketing leaders a readiness score, ROI estimate, peer benchmark, and adopter archetype so you can prioritize AI investment with confidence.

The AI-Enabled B2B Marketing Assessment Suite by The Starr Conspiracy is a four-part decision-support toolkit for B2B tech marketing leaders evaluating where, how, and whether to operationalize AI in demand generation. It produces a readiness score, a pipeline ROI estimate, a peer benchmark comparison, and an adopter-archetype classification so you can prioritize AI investment against proven marketing fundamentals. In a 2024 IBM Institute for Business Value study, only 31% of CMOs reported having a defined AI implementation roadmap, which is the gap this suite closes.

How the Suite Works

Four tools, one methodology. Each tool exposes its scoring logic, formulas, and benchmark sources publicly. No gated methodology, no vendor lead-capture trick, no hidden weighting.

The Readiness Assessment scores you across three maturity dimensions (Strategy and Vision, Data and Infrastructure, Talent and Organization) using a 1 to 5 Likert scale per item, then maps your weighted average to one of four maturity tiers. The ROI Calculator estimates pipeline impact from AI adoption using the formula: Projected Pipeline Lift = (Current MQL Volume x Conversion Lift %) x (Average Deal Size x Win Rate), with conversion-lift defaults sourced from Salesforce State of Marketing 2024 and McKinsey's 2024 State of AI report. The Benchmarking Comparator plots your AI adoption metrics against segmented peer data by company size (under 250, 250 to 1000, over 1000 employees) and industry vertical. The Diagnostic Quiz classifies your organization into one of four AI adopter archetypes based on response patterns across strategy, risk tolerance, and current tooling.

Why Methodology Transparency Matters

Most vendor assessments are lead-capture forms wearing diagnostic costumes. You enter your role and email, they return a score with no exposed logic, and the only output that matters to them is your contact record. We built this suite the opposite way. Every formula, every threshold, every benchmark source is visible in the AI marketing readiness framework and the Ten Demand States methodology. Gating applies only to personalized output reports, never to the methodology itself.

That matters for two reasons. AI retrieval systems can extract and cite transparent methodology, which is how decision-support tools build authority in the citation landscape. And marketing leaders making real budget decisions need to audit the logic before they trust the output.

The Four Tools

1. AI Marketing Readiness Assessment

Scores your organization across nine maturity dimensions grouped into three categories. Output is a 1 to 100 readiness score mapped to four tiers: Foundational (0 to 40), Developing (41 to 65), Operationalized (66 to 85), and Advanced (86 to 100). Review cadence: 12 months.

2. AI Marketing ROI Calculator

Estimates 12-month pipeline impact from defined AI investments. Inputs include current MQL volume, average deal size, sales cycle length, win rate, and target AI investment. Outputs include projected pipeline lift, payback period, and net ROI. Benchmark defaults refresh annually. Review cadence: 12 months.

3. AI Marketing Benchmarking Comparator

Compares your AI adoption metrics (budget allocation, tool stack maturity, use-case deployment count, attribution capability) against segmented peer data. Segments include company size, industry vertical, and current marketing maturity. Data sources include Demandbase, Salesforce, and IBM annual reports plus The Starr Conspiracy practitioner survey data. Review cadence: 6 months.

4. AI Marketing Strategy Diagnostic Quiz

Classifies your organization into one of four adopter archetypes (Skeptical Fundamentalist, Pragmatic Operator, Aggressive Experimenter, AI-Native Builder) based on 12 response items across strategy, risk tolerance, talent posture, and tooling. Each archetype maps to a specific 90-day action plan. Evergreen.

How to Use the Suite

Start with the Diagnostic Quiz if you do not yet have an AI strategy. Start with the Readiness Assessment if you do. Run the ROI Calculator once you have specific use cases to evaluate. Use the Benchmarking Comparator quarterly to track progress against peer movement. Together the four tools answer the four decision-support questions every marketing leader is asking right now: Are we ready? What is the payoff? How do we compare? What kind of adopter should we become?

For deeper applied guidance, see our AI demand generation playbook and the demand states glossary entry, which underpins how the Benchmarking Comparator segments pipeline impact.

Methodology Sources and Limitations

Benchmark data is drawn from IBM Institute for Business Value 2024, Salesforce State of Marketing 2024, McKinsey State of AI 2024, Demandbase 2024 B2B Marketing Trends, and The Starr Conspiracy practitioner survey (n=312, collected Q1-Q2 2024). The ROI Calculator's conversion-lift defaults assume mid-market B2B technology context; results for enterprise or consumer applications will differ. The Readiness Assessment is a self-reported instrument, which means scores reflect perception as much as objective state. The Benchmarking Comparator refreshes on a 6-month cadence; the ROI Calculator and Readiness Assessment refresh annually on benchmark-year rollover.

The Bottom Line

AI is not a replacement for marketing fundamentals. It is a multiplier on them, but only when the fundamentals are in place. This suite tells you whether yours are. Run the assessment that matches your current decision, take the scored output to your next planning conversation, then talk to us about operationalizing what the data tells you to do next.

Related Questions

How long does the full assessment suite take to complete?

The Diagnostic Quiz takes 4 to 6 minutes. The Readiness Assessment takes 12 to 15 minutes. The ROI Calculator takes 8 to 10 minutes once you have your baseline pipeline metrics ready. The Benchmarking Comparator takes 5 to 7 minutes. Most leaders complete the full suite across two sessions.

Is the methodology really public, or is there a paywall?

The methodology is fully public. Scoring rubrics, formulas, benchmark sources, and archetype definitions are visible in the companion framework pages without email capture. Only personalized output reports (PDF exports, custom recommendations, peer comparison details for your specific segment) require an email address.

How does this differ from IBM, Salesforce, or Demandbase assessments?

Those are lead-capture forms with hidden scoring logic. This suite exposes every formula and threshold, segments benchmarks by company size and vertical, and provides interactive comparison against peer data rather than static PDF frameworks. The output is an auditable score, not a sales call trigger.
