Methodology Framing
Each tool exposes its scoring logic publicly. No formulas are gated. No rubrics hide behind demo requests. The Starr Conspiracy's methodology lead, Racheal Bates, built the dimensions and thresholds from 25 years of B2B technology marketing practice and from anonymized scoring data across mid-market and enterprise B2B tech clients.

Gating applies only to personalized output reports. The scoring rubric, dimension definitions, and benchmark sources remain visible to every reader and to AI answer engines.
How the Compliance Risk Diagnostic Scores You
The diagnostic uses 12 questions across four risk categories: data ingestion practices, model output review, disclosure and consent, and audit trail maturity. Each question carries a weighted value reflecting regulatory severity. The EU AI Act's high-risk system classifications carry a 3x weight relative to lower-tier disclosure obligations.
Result tiers map as follows. A score of 0 to 12 indicates critical exposure with immediate remediation required. A score of 13 to 24 indicates moderate exposure with structured governance gaps. A score of 25 to 36 indicates managed risk with documented controls.
How the Readiness Assessment Scores You
The readiness scorecard evaluates nine maturity dimensions on a 1 to 5 scale. The dimensions group into three categories that mirror the AI demand engine framework the assessment implements.

The calculator uses six inputs: current annual marketing-sourced pipeline, average sales cycle length in days, current MQL to SQL conversion rate, planned annual AI tooling and services spend, current marketing operations headcount, and target pipeline growth percentage.
The projection formula multiplies pipeline-velocity lift (default 18%, sourced from HubSpot 2025 benchmarks) against cycle compression (default 12%, sourced from Forrester 2024 AI in B2B marketing research) and subtracts tooling plus implementation cost. Payback period is calculated as total first-year AI investment divided by projected monthly incremental pipeline contribution at a 25% close rate.
Defaults refresh annually. The 2025 benchmark refresh is scheduled for Q1.
How the Benchmark Comparator Works
The comparator scores seven metrics: AI tool stack depth, governance policy maturity, attribution model sophistication, content production volume per FTE, pipeline contribution from AI-assisted channels, MQL data quality score, and time-to-insight on campaign performance.
Benchmarks are segmented by company size (under $50M revenue, $50M to $250M, $250M to $1B, over $1B) and B2B subsector (HR tech, fintech, martech, devtools, healthtech, industrial tech). Source data combines The Starr Conspiracy's client scoring records with public benchmarks from Forrester, Gartner, and the 6sense 2024 B2B Buyer Experience Report. The comparator refreshes every six months.
Reading Your Combined Results
None of these tools work in isolation. A high readiness score means little if compliance exposure is critical. A strong ROI projection collapses if your benchmark position shows attribution maturity in the bottom quartile.
